Судя по описанию, инфоцыгане - это классические snake oil salesmen, просто snake oil у них информационное. Цыганистость их заключается исключительно в назойливости, но те же американцы с этой реалией едва ли знакомы. У британцев, опять же, с цыганами немного другие ассоциации - это их т.н. travellers, они обычно не выцыганивают ничего у прохожих, просто ведут себя как свиньи.

Они очень близкие термины, но разные, как я понимаю,
и фиктивные бизнес-гуру делает вид как будто они эксперты, а инфоцыгане как сами упомянули, кидалы 'Bait and switch'

Live and learn! Немного странно, что по тексту "инфоцыгане" не полный синоним "фиктивных бизнес-гуру": первые включают вторых или же это специфическая разновидность?

В любом случае, нужны отдельные термины

I don't think you have much of a choice here but to call it what it is called in the original, PC or not. It is their responsibility, not yours. Make sure you put these "Information Gypsies" in brackets, and maybe even add so-called up front to stave off the liberal crowd.

Просто мне не нравится "инфо-". На практике наше "инфо-" чаще оказывается английским cyber- или online.

No, it could not. There are no 'Cyberkirghiz' or 'Cyberukrainians' out there. Plus, they don't call them Gypsies no more in PC-land. // You still don't get it that nationalities use capital letters, do you? A whatever-gypsy is not a Gypsy.
disagree Uly Marrero : We're assuming here that "Gypsy" has a negative connotation and is tantamount to a grifter in all languages, countries and cultures. I'd use a more generic word like cyberGRIFTER that doesn't target a specific people.

or cyber hustlers? Что лучше - у меня мнения нет.

Я так понимаю, что речь не об этнических цыганах:-), поэтому от gypsies надо бы отвязаться, не у всех одинаковые ассоциации, да еще и "неполиткорректные" - воры, приставалы и пр. Присвоение таких характеристик by default or implication в наше время не приветствуется, да и не у всех западных людей возникнет автоматический резкий негатив при слове "цыгане", а нам нужно сразу, первым упоминанием все расставить по местам.

Кстати, гуглится, но только слегка.

I would use different term than gypsy (which is the literal meaning),
I believe, there is another term suitable for this in English, but I am sure it is not *gypsy*

While "cybergypsies" is used for internet surfers and digital nomads, it is strongly associated with "The Cybergypsies: A True Tale of Lust, War, and Betrayal on the Electronic Frontier" by Indra&Andra Sinha. However, in your case, the terms is about the phenomenon/area, not the person, alas.
