terreno blando

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering construction report
In the context of digging out foundations to construct a swimming pool. It's says to manually dig out the "terreno blando" I know it means terreno with no stones, rocks, gravel etc... but "soft land"? Is there a more technical term?
It's for a translation in Menorca for a British based company
