En el caso de soldaduras efectuadas en varios pases, antes de ejecutar el pase siguiente, la superficie del pase precedente debe ser limpiada y , si es necesario, cepillada con un cepillo metálico (de acero inoxidable en el caso de aleaciones de aluminio).
En el caso de que la superficie en el pase precedente esté sucia o porosa, debe limpiarse con muela por ejemplo, hasta que estos defectos desaparezcan y el siguiente pase pueda efectuarse sobre una superficie saneada.
Cualquier fisura descubierta durante un pase, debe ser totalmente suprimida antes de efectuar el pase siguiente de acuerdo con I12004 IBU.
