Spanish term

Autorización del Aprovechamiento Forestal Persistente

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Forestry / Wood / Timber
I'm looking for the official forestry term in English for this kind of permit.

What really throws me off is the word 'persistente'.

I am translating a report from Columbia which will be used to apply for this permit.

Some ideas I had were:

Authorization for Continual Forest Use/Exploitation.

But does 'persistente' refer to something continual, or something completely different?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Aprovechamiento Forestal Persistente

DEFINICIÓN

Son los que se efectúan con criterios de sostenibilidad y con la obligación de conservar el rendimiento normal del bosque, con técnicas silvícolas que permitan su renovación.

Well I've really put my foot in my mouth this time! My sincerest apologies to all the ColOmbians out there!

Being from British ColUmbia myself, I naturally assumed that Colombia was spelled the same way (in English of course) and that there was just a vowel change between languages.

It was not my intention to offend anyone, just to be grammatically correct. I will NEVER make that mistake again :(

Cont. You don't want to offend people's sensibilities - and people are sensitive about their country, state, and local names.
Muriel Vasconcellos Nov 16, 2010:
@Jeanette Just so that you know, the official name of Colombia in English is 'Colombia'. There is a process by which country names are submitted and registered as official by the international organizations. You can check out official country names on the websites of such organizations as the United Nations, the Organization of American States, the World Health Organization, etc. When it comes to proper names, it's always better to check than to make assumptions.

Sorry guys but I was writing in English therefore I used the English spelling. If I were writing in Spanish I would of course use the proper Spanish spelling.

If I'm talking about France, I'm not going to write Francia, am I? :-)

I agree, Jeanette (ColOmbia) Tut, tut... Of course I am being completely humourous here... ;-)

Colombia, please.

I think "persistente" = "sustainable"
Note from asker:
Thank you for your answer! I had a hunch that it was referring to sustainability but I wasn't sure. Do you think that exploitation has a negative connotation to it? I hesitate to use it for that reason...
