Spanish term

CENTROS DE MENORES

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Human Resources Employment contract
Spain. This appears in a list of special clauses from a job application form/contract. Being from the UK myself and getting on in years, the first thing that springs to mind is Borstal or young offenders' institutions, but I'm not sure if that is the concept in question here.

"DE MENORES Y JÓVENES EN CENTROS DE MENORES"

Juvenile facilities

The UN uses that term: "The Department has investigated conditions of confinement in more than 100 juvenile facilities across the United States" (https://documents-dds-ny.un.org/doc/UNDOC/GEN/G09/405/50/PDF... US English: Juvenile detention center (for young offenders)
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : This was a specifically UK institution. You can't use it for Spain.//That's like translating "Tour Eiffel" as "Blackpool Tower" :-)

It is a translation into the equivalent in UK English, I don't understand why it can't be used for Spain. Juvenile Facilities is hardly clear as a terminology for a detention center for young offenders.
neutral Rachel Fell : A borstal was a type of youth detention centre in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borstal

Not necessarily just for offenders, I think.

Might "residential" need to be added?
Note from asker:
Exactly! The Cabanyal centre is just down the road from where I live. Rather than the more punitively oriented "juve"/approved school/YO/reform school/reformatory and similar, I think I'm just going to call it a Youth Centre, which seems a better fit to the description.
I don't think "residential" is indispensable and it would just lengthen the sentence. "YOUTH CENTRES " is enough for my purposes this time.
