Spanish term

CAPITAL MAXIMO

Spanish to English Law/Patents Insurance
The term comes from the terms and conditions of an underwriter's surety contract (company operating out of Gibraltar in the Spanish market):

CAPITAL MÁXIMO: 2.000.000 € para el conjunto de certificados/fianzas de esta póliza colectiva emitida con el número XXXXX que se emitan, según detalle

I understand it refers to the maximum insurance coverage. Is there a specific term I'm missing?

CAPITAL SUM INSURED

This is the total sum insured, thus stated. The absolute limit of liability. It is not necessary to state "maximum".

maximum insured amount ; motor > insurance coverage limit

Low confidence level as no idea what the insurance subject-matter is: feasibly not Gibraltar Rock Barbary Apes.
Example sentence:

The maximum insured amount is the one established in your voucher. assist-card.com La suma máxima asegurada es la indicada en su voucher. assist-card.com

[...] assessment expertise, and the capacity of the treaty, which is the maximum amount of sum insured stipulated by the treaty. scor.com [...] selección de la aseguradora y la capacidad del tratado, que representa el nivel máximo previsto de capitale

Note from asker:
The insurance subject matter is surety, i.e. bonds covering the obligations of one company to third parties

Maximum Sum Insured

"Capital" is the sum itself "El capital asegurado...." = The sum insured....

No need to include "capital"
Peer comment(s):

agree Paul Stevens : From 20+ years' experience in insurance, I can say that "Sum Insured" is indeed the correct translation in insurance terminology for "Capital".
