Spanish term
cunetas globales
Spanish to English
Bus/Financial
Investment / Securities
Hi everyone.
I have an unusual phrase that I would appreciate help with.
The context is a financial/investment booklet:
"Entra en un mar de posibilidades y encuentra el fondo de inversión que estabas buscado.
La solución llave en mano para la distribución de fondos españoles con cunetas globales."
I can't for the life of me imagine what they mean by "cunetas globales".
There doesn't seem to be a "proper" translation, so I assume it's some kind of informal jargon.
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Terence.

Comment: "Gracias, Juan Arturo. Efectivamente, era una transposición de letras:
cuneta=cuenta.
Después de como 12 horas al teclado, estaba en auto-piloto y no reconocí lo que era obvio.
Una colega me corrigió el error una media hora después de publicar la pregunta. Pero como contestaste "officialmente" te mereces los puntos.
Un saludo desde España."

global distribution
it is metaforic from the hydraulic domain (cuneta = drain)
Note from asker:
Thanks, Vittorio. But I think the answer is simpler than that - it's a transposition: cunetas=cuentas. After a whole day at the keyboard I was just too punchy to be able to see it. |

Cuneta
OK, so the solution is a typo (cuentas). Nevetheless, I'd like to mention the several meanings of "cuneta". It can mean a drainage ditch like those usually found on the sides of roads. However, it has several more figurative meanings, such as to leave someone in the lurch, or even to dump a dead body (dejar en la cuneta). This is why I initially found the query rather strange, assuming it was some kind of financial jargon.
Note from asker:
Thanks, Neil. I'd never heard those expressions before. I'll remember next time I dump a dead body! :D |
