Oh, so "por comparecencia" is not "for having appeared," but "by service." O.K. Got it. In that case, I think "notice served" or "service of notice," depending on context.

My understanding is that that's what "por comparencia" means, that a person showed up to accept physical delivery of the notice. There is also the alternative "por estrados", which is when the government body just posts the notice on its bulletin boards. As I said in my answer before, I couldn't come up with any well-worn term for this English, so I just made an attempt to describe it in the fewest words possible.

No problem. Tip: If I want to search the KudoZ forum for a term, then rather than use the glossary search, I always find it easier to just Google the term inside quotation marks and leave the word "proz" at the end (i.e., outside the quotation marks). It's faster and you get better results.

@Robert Thank you Robert!! I was certain I had asked this before but I just couldn't find it in my emails or my asked questions! Your answer was correct because it's the record that they were served notice and not a notice to appear, but the certificate that they personally appeared to serve notice! Thanks!!!!

Take a look at Liz's link, you posted the exact same question only last year. Do you think that doesn't work for the "cédula" you have in front of you now?
