Hi all,
Same elderly patient in the coronary care unit. After mentioning the patient has anterior STEMI K-K II treated with a stent implant, the cardiologist's report says:
"Portadora de MCP dilatada IN con deterioro severo de la fey [ejection fraction]."
MCP dilatada = dilated cardiomyopathy, but what about "IN"? Any pointers?
TIA

: Perhaps "dilated" is unnecessary, but shouldn't the necrosis be mentioned? There could be ischemic DCM without necrosis, couldn't there?

Necrotic means ischemic etiology due to coronary artery disease. Both necrosis and ischemia can lead to ischemic cardiomyopathy

IN as is most probably refers to isquémico-necrótica. It would be a weird acronym for "infecciosa" and there are not many other possibilities here.
And so ischemic cardiomyopathy seems an accurate translation of miocardiopatía dilatada isquémico-necrótica.

Ischemic cardiomyopathy (CM) is the most common type of dilated cardiomyopathy. In Ischemic CM, the heart's ability to pump blood is decreased because the heart's main pumping chamber, the left ventricle, is enlarged, dilated and weak. This is caused by ischemia - a lack of blood supply to the heart muscle caused by coronary artery disease and heart attacks.
