Spanish term

sábana nasal inferior

I can't find an exact reference for sábana. I have found inferior nasal concha and inferior sagittal sinus - perhaps it's one of them?

TIA,
Juliette

Chema Nieto Castañón Dec 2, 2019:
@Tomasso Thank you, Tomasso.
The first link is misleading though; RPE-choroid sheet refers to a "graft" type.
The second one could be a fair description of the patch-like pattern of a sangrado en sábana.
Tomasso Dec 2, 2019:
May not help but... Looking around there are references but perhaps not close enough to Subretinal hemorrhages, reference to sheet, or veil in other parts of the eye

Dice alli;
Pre-retinal hemorrhage--occurs just beneath the internal limiting membrane, o - - and is usually a sheet-like veil that obscures the underlying retina and vessels.
Chema Nieto Castañón Dec 2, 2019:
Exactly so, Tom; it is the bleeding which is subretinal and located inferior and nasal in the eye.
As for sangrado en sábana the idea is something like an oozing hemorrhage, but I haven't been able to find an equivalent term/expression used in relation to ocular/subretinal bleeding.
Thomas Walker Dec 2, 2019:
en sábana I think the question as posed breaks up a phrase in the ST that would be better kept together. "En sábana" means something like "sheetlike", or a reference to blanket, as Chema said. The phrase to unwind is "con hemorragia subretiniana en sábana nasal inferior", which would probably be something like "with sheetlike subretinal bleeding, in the inferior nasal region of the eye".
Chema Nieto Castañón Dec 2, 2019:
shallow bleeding Maybe shallow bleeding...
Not sure but flame-shaped bleeding seems to be related to nerve-fiber related bleeding.

flame bleeding? https://www.reviewofoptometry.com/article/busted-barriers-tr...
Possibly flame hemmorrhging?

nasal-inferior diffuse bleeding

Not sure if there is a specific English expression for sangrado/hemorragia en sábana. I'll post it if I find it. Anyhow, the meaning of the original is that they see a "diffuse bleeding" (a bleeding that is diffuse, looking like a "blanket"), where the bleeding spot -the origin of the hemorrhage- cannot be seen. This diffuse bleeding is located in the nasal-inferior quadrants of the eye (subretinal).
