frock-style coat Explanation: A "levita" is a frock coat; it's in bilingual dictionaries. Here are the respective Wikipedia articles: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levita_(indumentaria) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frock_coat It was a Victorian and Edwardian formal coat, fitted, double-breasted and long-skirted (knee length). So it means a coat, an overcoat, in the style of a frock coat. If you google images of "abrigo estilo levita", all sorts of things come up, but in principle that's what it means. But although it's tempting just to put "frock coat", there is a difference, in theory, between "levita" and "estilo levita". It's possible to speak of a "frock-style coat" in English, and that's what I'd do. Here's one by Prada that will set you back a mere €8737.68: "Prada Tan Ostrich Frock Style Coat" https://www.1stdibs.com/fashion/clothing/coats-outerwear/pra... And another by Massimo Duti, rather easier on the bank balance: "Frock-style textured weave coat" http://www.massimodutti.com/ie/denim-frock-coat-c680658p6954... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 36 mins (2016-08-03 19:03:25 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- It is nice, isn't it? But remember, the Devil wears Prada :) |
