Belde kelimesi hem şehir anlamına gelir hem de büyük köy (bazen de köylükten çıkmış tatil yöresi).

Ben belde için eskiden beri, ama doğru ama yanlış city sözcüğünü kullanırım. Konu netlik kazanıncaya kadar da buna devam edeceğim sanırım.

Bu arada, il ve ilçe de her tercümanın (kullandığı sözlüklere göre) farklı çevirdiği terimlerdir.

agree  Tim Drayton: 'Province' ile 'sub-province' hakkında kesinlikle katıliyorum. Türkiye konusunda İngilizce yazılan akademik yazılarında hep böyle geçer. 'Belde' de anlattığınız gibi zor bir konu, çevrilmesi için bence hangi kasaba vs. kastedildiğini bilmemiz gerekir.
