The colour of the bag had become indistinct because of how dirty the leather was Explanation: I have translated the sentence rather freely, and I'm not sure that "indistinct" is the best word I could have used here. Anyway, the point is that the comma is used to show that "rengi" and "derinin" are to be read separately (although here "rengi derinin" wouldn't make much sense). More generally, you will often find a comma used after the subject of a sentence to avoid potential ambiguities or misreadings. Compare: "Deli arkadaşını öldürdü" (He killed his mad friend) and "Deli, arkadaşını öldürdü (The madman killed his friend) |
