The USMC is unique in that it calls its hats "covers." If you visit the eBay site below, you will see that the dress blue cover listed below is a white hat/cap.

This is a like new Lancaster brand USMC Dress Blue cover. I think I only wore it two or three times. Since then it has been wrapped in plastic and boxed. It is a vinyl cover and it has the metal band to reinforce the front.

It occurred to me that the s on "bâchis" may or may not be part of the word, so I did another search for just "bâchi." As a result, I found a number of listings for "bachi" without the circumflex mark. Since it is most likely that the word is based on "bâche" from the XVth century, meaning [filet, Robert Étymologique; vêtement, Larousse Étymologie]and it’s derivative bâcher” [to dress, LÉ], with the circumflex mark is probably correct.
