Source text - English It was the mustache that reminded me I was no longer in England: a solid, gray millipede firmly obscuring the man’s upper lip; a Village People mustache, a cowboy mustache, the miniature head of a broom that meant business. You just didn’t get that kind of mustache at home.
I couldn’t tear my eyes from it. “Ma’am?”
The only person I had ever seen with a mustache like that at home was Mr. Naylor, our maths teacher, and he collected Digestive crumbs in his—we used to count them during algebra.
“Ma’am?”
“Oh. Sorry.”
The man in the uniform motioned me forward with a flick of his stubby finger. He did not look up from his screen. I waited at the booth, long-haul sweat drying gently into my dress. He held up his hand, waggling four fat fingers. This, I grasped after several seconds, was a demand for my passport.
“Name.”
“It’s there,” I said.
“Your name, ma’am.”
“Louisa Elizabeth Clark.” I peered over the counter. “Though I never use the Elizabeth bit. Because my mum realized after they named me that that would make me Lou Lizzy. And if you say that really fast it sounds like lunacy. Though my dad says that’s kind of fitting. Not that I’m a lunatic. I mean, you wouldn’t want lunatics in your country. Hah!” My voice bounced nervously off the Plexiglas screen.
The man looked at me for the first time. He had solid shoulders and a gaze that could pin you like a Taser. He did not smile. He waited until my own faded.
“Sorry,” I said. “People in uniform make me nervous.”

Depois o homem levantou a mão, abanando quatro dedos grossos. Só passados alguns segundos é que compreendi que o gesto era uma exigência para o meu passaporte.

‘’Está aí,’’ disse eu.

‘’Louisa Elizabeth Clark.’’ Espreitei por cima do balcão. ‘’Embora nunca use Elizabeth. Depois de me dar o nome, a minha mãe percebeu que me iriam tratar por Lou Lizzy. E se o disser muito rápido parece uma lunacy (loucura). Apesar de o meu pai dizer que até é apropriado. Não que eu seja uma lunática. Você não iria querer lunáticos no seu país. Ah!’’ A minha voz ecoou nervosamente.
O homem olhou para mim pela primeira vez. Tinha ombros fortes e um olhar que intimidava. Ele não sorriu e esperou até o meu desvanecer.

Source text - English The creative power of God and His creations are limitless, but they are not in reciprocal relationship. You communicate fully with God, as He does with you. This is an ongoing process in which you share, and, because you share it, you are inspired to create like God. Yet in creation you are not in a reciprocal relation to God, since He created you, but you did not create Him. I have already told you that only in this respect your creative power differs from His. Even in this world there is a parallel. Parents give birth to children, but children do not give birth to parents. They do, however, give birth to their children, and thus give birth as their parents do.
If you created God and He created you, the Kingdom could not increase through its own creative thought. Creation would therefore be limited, and you would not be co-creators with God. As God’s creative Thought proceeds from Him to you, so must your creative thought proceed from you to your creations. Only in this way can all creative power extend outward. God’s accomplishments are not yours, but yours are like His. He created the Sonship and you increase it. You have the power to add to the Kingdom, though not to add to the Creator of the Kingdom. You claim this power when you become vigilant only for God and His Kingdom. By accepting this power as yours you have learned to remember what you are.
Your creations belong in you, as you belong in God. You are part of God, as your sons are part of His sons. To create is to love. Love extends outward simply because it cannot be contained. Being limitless it does not stop. It creates forever, but not in time. God’s creations have always been, because you can create only as God creates. Eternity is yours, because He created you eternal.
The ego, on the other hand, always demands reciprocal rights, because it is competitive rather than loving. It is always willing to strike a bargain, but it cannot understand that to be like another means that no bargains are possible. To gain you must give, not bargain. To bargain is to limit giving, and this is not God’s Will. To will with God is to create like Him. God does not limit His gifts in any way. You are His gifts, and so your gifts must be like His. Your gifts to the Kingdom must be like His gifts to you.

Source text - Portuguese Pesquisas recentes mostram que alimentos cultivados de forma orgânica têm maior valor nutricional. Esses produtos são mais saudáveis e nutritivos, por não possuírem resíduos agrotóxicos e utilizarem fertilizantes naturais. O leite orgânico, por exemplo, tem entre 40% e 80% mais elementos antioxidantes do que os convencionais.
O que muita gente não sabe é que os alimentos de produção orgânica não são apenas cultivados sem o uso de pesticidas e outros produtos sintéticos, mas também provêm de um sistema que busca sustentabilidade social, ambiental e econômica, valorizando a cultura das comunidades rurais, garantindo a saúde de quem consome e preservando o meio ambiente.
Entre as exigências aos produtores estão a preservação da diversidade biológica dos ecossistemas, o manejo correto de resíduos, o emprego de processos que incrementem a fertilidade do solo e a inclusão de práticas sustentáveis. Em hipótese alguma é permitido o uso de sementes transgênicas, adubos químicos, ou hormônios e antibióticos em animais. Um dos grandes desafios desse tipo de cultivo são as pragas e doenças.
O sistema orgânico busca o equilíbrio do ecossistema para resultar em plantas mais resistentes. Assim, outras culturas são utilizadas durante o cultivo, ou alternadas com a produção. E quando falamos em carnes e laticínios, é importante lembrar que, para serem considerados orgânicos, os animais sejam criados com rações adequadas e naturais, sem a aplicação de antibióticos, hormônios e anabolizantes.
É comum ouvirmos que o custo de alimentos do gênero é mais elevado em comparação aos convencionais. E, muito embora já seja possível adquiri-los em mercados e feiras com preços compatíveis, a afirmação ainda é verdadeira.
Essa diferença pode ser explicada pela oferta escassa em relação à demanda. Os produtos orgânicos estão em alta no mercado brasileiro e algumas empresas ainda precisam importar alguns ingredientes que não são produzidos no país, como a aveia orgânica. Outro fator que contribui com o preço é que o produtor orgânico se preocupa com a preservação do meio ambiente e tem compromisso com a qualidade de vida de seus empregados. O produto, então, pode ter seu custo de produção um pouco maior, acrescido destas responsabilidades cidadãs.

And when it comes to meat and dairy products, it is important to remember that, in order to be considered organic, animals must be raised with adequate and natural feed, without the application of antibiotics, hormones and anabolic agents.
A common complaint is that the cost of this type of produce is higher compared to conventional foods. And although it is already possible to purchase them in farmers markets with compatible prices, this assertation continues to be true.
This difference can be explained by the insufficient supply in the face of growing demand. Organic products are on the rise in the Brazilian market and some companies still need to import some ingredients that are not produced in the country, such as organic oats. Another factor that contributes to the price is that the organic producer is concerned with the preservation of the environment and is committed to the quality of life of their employees. The product, then, can have its production cost a little higher, given these social responsibilities.

A socialista Anne Hidalgo foi escolhida para ser a primeira mulher a ocupar o cargo de prefeita da capital francesa, em uma campanha marcada por controvérsias em relação à sua origem modesta e a uma suposta, segundo críticos, ausência de raízes parisienses.
Na França, as eleições do último domingo 31 foram marcadas pelos avanços da centro-direita e da extrema direita, que saiu vitoriosa em várias cidades pelo país e pôs em xeque a reeleição do presidente François Hollande.
Mas, apesar das tentativas dos adversários de arranhar sua imagem, os eleitores da capital contrariaram a tendência nacional e elegeram prefeita a filha de imigrantes espanhóis, de 54 anos.
Esperava-se que Hidalgo tivesse votação apertada contra sua concorrente, a ex-ministra do Meio Ambiente do governo Nicolás Sarkozy, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet. Entretanto, o segundo turno das eleições na capital foi encerrado com quase 55% dos votos favoráveis à socialista.
Aparentemente, sua postura e a seriedade de suas promessas agradaram aos residentes de Paris, em meio às dificuldades econômicas que o país atravessa. Socialist Anne Hidalgo was chosen to be the first woman to occupy the position of mayor of the French capital, in a campaign marked by controversy over her modest origins and a supposed lack of Parisian roots, according to critics.
In France, last Sunday's elections were marked by the advances of the center-right and far right, which emerged victorious in several cities around the country and called into question the re-election of President François Hollande.
But despite the opponents' attempts to tar her image, the capital's voters countered the national trend and elected the 54-year-old daughter of Spanish immigrants as mayor.
Hidalgo was expected to have a narrow victory against her opponent, former Minister of Environment Nicolás Sarkozy, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet. Meanwhile, the second round of elections in the capital was closed with almost 55% of votes in favor of the socialist one.
Apparently, her stance and the seriousness of her promises pleased the residents of Paris, amidst the economic difficulties that the country is going through. After the vote was consolidated, Hidalgo declared: "It was a victory of authenticity, a victory of the left loyal to its principles and the efficiency to implement them".
Her opponent in the elections, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, declared during the campaign that the election was centered around the dispute between "a star and a caretaker", due to Hidalgo's Iberian origin. The term refers to immigrants, often from Spain or Portugal, who work as janitors in the buildings of Paris.
Hidalgo fought back, accusing Kosciusko-Morizet of being part of a privileged "caste", far from the real world, a label that eventually marked the center-right candidate. Kosciusko-Morizet was widely criticized after describing the Paris subway as a "charming place", causing outrage among those who use Paris' public transport every day.
During the campaign, the elected mayor promised investments in housing, transportation and green spaces as a way to reverse the exodus from the middle and lower classes to the suburbs. Her electoral platform also included the construction of 10,000 public housing units and the opening of 5,000 new spaces in kindergartens.
The real estate crisis must be one of the new mayor's main challenges. Prices in the sector have more than doubled in the last ten years and are still high despite the crisis the country is going through.
Her administration should also be marked by environmental policies, as a result of an agreement signed with the Green Party, which, in return for the electoral support, should double its representation on the council that monitors the work of the mayor, in addition to occupying one-fifth of the office posts in the city hall.
