1.1.1 Close connections when inactive

After a certain period of inactivity, the application must automatically close the bluetooth phone connections in order not to create an impediment when the PDA enters its "auto-sleep" mode. Screen changes serve as a measure of activity. If no screen change takes place during a certain time period, one must assume that the employee does not use the Rail Pocket application. A screen change, as such, may mean a screen change within a key functionality, as well as a transition to another key functionality. RP management must be allowed to set the maximum period of inactivity before communication links are closed. Both the serial connection (for SMS interaction) and the dial-up connection (for information exchange with the back office) should be closed after the configured inactivity period. Likewise, this means that after this period of inactivity any "SMS-polling" is halted, and is only restarted after a subsequent screen change. After the connections are closed, the PDA will automatically go to sleep according to the length of time set by the user in the system settings.

1.2 Data security
Third-party application- and data use is prohibited. Device access is password protected. The registration process and password-setting is achieved outside the application. Application access is not further protected.

Optionally, a number of files should be able to be stored encrypted on the CF/SD chart, in order to prohibit unauthorized access. The level of encryption can be described as follows: coding such that it is not possible to open and view the contents of these files in other applications (scrambling). Because of speed considerations this will be applied only with a limited number of files. The following files are involved:
• the file containing personal and work-related user information
• the file containing personal user settings
• generated records
• file containing week- and download numbers
• application configuration files
• record and equipment alerts/-recovery actions

A file-decryption tool is made available to managers.
This explicitly does not concern encryption.

Bio
Thanks for taking the time to visit my ProZ.com "About me" page!

My name is Peter Moor, and I am a full time, freelance, native DUTCH/BRITISH, translator, interpreter, editor and proofreader, living and working in Washington, DC, USA.

In the '90s through 2004 I was employed as a CIO/CTO. During the "dot.com" period, I worked in the Palo Alto area of California in various exciting hands-on, management and executive capacities, working on web-applications.

More recently, as a business owner, I consulted Washington, D.C. area non-profits on the selection and implementation of online membership- and accounting software.

I was born and grew up in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and pursued and attained an undergraduate Degree in Hospitality and Business Management at the Hotel Management School in Maastricht. In 1982 I ventured to the USA to complete my MS in Business and Hotel Management at Florida International University (FIU)'s School of Hospitality Management in Miami, FL.

All through my career, whether in the hospitality or technology fields or, for that matter, in my own businesses, my reputation (besides my family, of course) was and is #1, and paramount. I pride myself in being conscientious, reliable and timely.

Over the years I have built up sizable Translation Memories using Wordfast and Trados in the following areas:

Legal (contracts)
Dutch/Flemish/EU Government Documents
Technology
Insurance
Finance
Engineering
Travel/Hospitality,
Medical (non-technical)

I would be honored, and it would certainly be a pleasure to work with you on your important linguistic projects. Don't hesitate to give me a call or drop me an email at [email protected] with any questions you may have.
