I had this problem on a Dell laptop. It was brand new laptop, and it almost drove me crazy. I spent countless hours on tech support, and was beginning to drift into the realm of the criminally insane. I finally bought a Macbook, and it is hooked up to a separate monitor.I normally have at least two word docs, a pdf, my dictionary, google, Safari, and several folders and other programs open. I swing between screens, which are completely independent of each other. I have never had a problem with the cursor. There are some drawbacks to fighting the Microsoft world, but I sure don't miss it. I do have Office 2008 for Mac, written to run directly on a mac, and it has been pretty good. I know how these little problems can drive a person crazy. If you have a hammer nearby, I think you should hide it until you get this problem fixed.
