As I understand it, it is advised to uninstall Java 7 for the time being and use Java 6 instead. Both are usually installed side-by-side and most Java applications work with Java 6. If needed, Java 6 can be downloaded at:

As I understand, this vulnerability matters only in case of browsers/e-mail clients, but not other applications using Java. In the first case, just use your brain and do not browse to suspicious sites, do not click links in suspicious e-mail messages.
