Incidentally, verwechslungsfrei = unamgiguously marked so perhaps you could use something incorporating the term "unambiguous".

Ich habe den Eindruck, dass Louise eigentlich gar nicht so weit entfernt war von einem guten Vorschlag, bzw. sie wollte Sie zu dem weiteren gedanklichen Schritt anregen, den ich ihrem Vorschlag noch hinzufuegen wollte, naemlich dass man aus dem Verfahren 'coding' noch 'device' dazu gibt.
So hat man die Moeglichkeit, das Teil '(mechanical) coding recognition device'; 'mechanical code safeguard device' oder 'coding safeguard' zu nennen. (Wenn man lang genug googelt, findet man bestimmt auch noch ein 'coding recognition device'; hier wenigstens 'coding recognition')

This is a generic term including all meaures to limit deviations, including mechanical, physical or electrical devices. Guide pins are only 1 example for mechancial devices. And it was only asked for mechanical parts, not for all.
