French term

couloirs ministériels

French to English Social Sciences Government / Politics biography
The above phrase was taken from the text below - which is a biography of a regional council president. Any input would be much appreciated, thanks in advance :-)

C’est effectivement un homme attaché à la démocratie de proximité, plus familier des réunions publiques que des couloirs ministériels qui s’impose devant Gilles de Robien, alors en charge des transports au sein du gouvernement Raffarin

'Ministerial corridors' is a more common phrase than you might expect - try googling it to see.

Otherwise, 'corridors of ministerial power' might also work.

'Corridors of power' is the first phrase which would spring to mind, and is obviously a much more common expression; my only concern would be that it is not specific enough, i.e., doesn't mention the idea of government ministries as the French original does. 'Corridors of power', although usually understood in governmental terms, can be used to refer to other institutions, groups, and so on. We might talk, for example, about 'the corridors of power at the BBC', etc. Similarly, 'corridors of power', even in an obviously governmental context, are not neccessarily 'ministerial' ones.

neutral Josephine79 : I don't think you've taken the context in to account: I've checked a couple of the references you give and their contexts are completely different.. But Emanuela, nobody else gave any links for this suggestion!

same text as writeaway and then: Ok Josephine, no problem, but you give IN ANY CASE a neutral to the translation of the term.
neutral writeaway : agree with Josephine79. the hard sell 5 confidence level is one thing but you seem to be backing it with anything at all that contains the words ministerial corridors./ok-don't agree with the answer either

even if you think that links, according to you, are not relevant, why do you give a neutral only to me? This is not to ask a neutral for others, it's just to understand
