English term

LLA

English Law/Patents Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs academic degrees
It's an academic degree, probably in Law (although not sure about this).
I know the meaning of LLB (Bachelor), LLD (Doctor) and LLM (Master), but the only definition I can find for LLA is Lady Literate in Arts which can't be the answer in this case as it concerns a male.

TIA

Discussion

Charlesp Feb 3, 2006:
It could be a membership in a professional organization (from the information you provided).
Ian M-H (X) Feb 3, 2006:
That helps - it tells us that your man is still alive and working, so almost certainly graduated within the last 45 years, and suggests that Finland is unlikely.
Manuel Leite (asker) Feb 3, 2006:
Hi Ian, actually I don't have much more relevant information. This concerns a person working for an American organization, which doesn't necessarily mean he's an American; judging only by the name, he might also be British. As for university/college and dates, I have no information whatsoever.
Thanks for the help.
Ian M-H (X) Feb 3, 2006:
-K +J and apologies to Jack for my typo.
Ian M-H (X) Feb 3, 2006:
Can you tell us (a) what country this is from, ideally which university/college and (b) the date of the award? Even just knowing the right decade would help. Kack may well be right, but it would be nice to be able to be sure.

disagree Ian M-H (X) : Given that Asker tells us that "it's an academic degree", this answer makes no sense.
