to which I would add "stance" and perhaps state of mind. 心構え is a psychological position or attitude, which is both enduring and something that one has to a large extent created (kamaeta). A sort of self created attitude.

Both assume that the ¥"価値観¥" at the start of this fragment is also modified by somethign like soldier or millitary or army. As it stands, what the values are is not clear.
I am not sure why the gamae (kamae) of ¥"心構¥え¥" does not come out.
