洲 is "五洲六海" 的洲
Indeed, that is the written version of 洲 for some people when they write fast as chance pointed out, or 草写体.
The pronuciation is the same as 周, i.e., zhou(1)

weiwei, it just popped into my mind this second, that the idiom is 五洲四海. As you can see, I am indeed a little rusty in my Chinese. Actually a lot it is coming back to me since I started participating in the forum and kudoZ :-)
