Un compassato gentleman britannico tiene galantemente aperta la porta a una signora austriaca che gli dice: "Non è necessario". lui allora le spiega che il suo gesto non e' del tutto distinteressato: in questo modo ha agio di vedersela passare davanti e di assistere a uno spettacolo che altrimenti gli sarebbe precluso, e poi aggiunge:

"Die niedrigen gallischen und alemannischen Völker vom europäischen Kontinent nennen solche Gesten der Höflichkeit einer Dame gegenüber ja schließlich nicht ohne Hintergedanken 'rücksichtsvoll'. Schließlich kann
die rückwärtige Ansicht einer Dame den Gentleman aufs Höchste begeistern!"

non per nulla li definiscono "riguardosi". Essi consentono infatti di riguardare bene una donna anche da dietro, il che entusiasma ecc. ecc.
