Construction / Civil Engineering
Building specification - glass facades.
Sentence: "FASADEKLEDNING MED OPAK GLASS.
På angitte områder (tette felt integrert i glassystemet) vil det forekomme opak glass i felt. .... Entreprenøren bør vurdere muligheten for prefabrikkering av komplett kledning. Tykkelsen på isolerte felt varierer mellom brystninger og avdekking foran dekkeforkanter, kfr tegninger for dimensjon."
Kunden forteller at avdekking her betyr beskyttelse av materialet.

covering
insulation etc. that covers the slab edge

"Finishes" would not be adequate here, as everything will be covered by the glass façade (= the final finish). But the slab edges have to be insulated before the glass façade is erected, to avoid "cold bridges".

Note from asker:
Would "finishes" also be possible here, even more generic? |
3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer.
Comment: "After speaking to a Norwegian architect, I think this comes closest, but I still think there may be another more precise term. Will give 3 points, just to indicate this. Thanks to all contributions! "

protection
not a literal translation, I know, but could it be used if it is to mean 'beskyttelse'?
Note from asker:
I'm really looking for the more technical term here, Nina. I think it may be "lining", but hope someone will confirm this. Thanks anyway. |

capping
This is a decorative or protective cover of an angle, end, top, etc. It may be different material from the general area or of the same material but used differently. (illustrated building dictionary - Danish/English)
