French term

"simulacre parfait"

French to English Social Sciences Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc. sociology of consumption
Hello,
In an article on the sociology of fashion, I have a passing reference to (presumably) a sociologist called Lorenz who refers to fashion as a "simulacre parfait". The article then discusses Veblen's theory of conspicuous consumption. Is anyone familiar with this Lorenz and is there a traduction consacrée for the concept of "simulacre parfait"?

A perfect simulacrum of what, by the way?

I think he is the famous zoologist and ethologist Konrad Lorenz. He wrote "Civilized man's eight deadly sins" a citation from which, and about fashion, you can find at http://www.dicocitations.com/auteur/2760/Konrad_Zacharias_Lo...

Konrad Lorenz is the person you want, a major figure.
