although I like daisuke\'s version of translation, his interpretation of \"have a lot riding on\" is slightly incorrect.

\"have a lot riding on\" usually means \"much at stake\". In that sense \"rely on\", \"depend on\" etc are a bit off here..

... で決まる部分が多い[大きい]

I've just shown a translation for "have a lot riding on ...". Here, "ride on" is equal to "rely on", "depnd on", "count on", etc.

「Astra 社は昨年米国で最も売れた抗潰瘍薬[抗潰瘍剤]、Prilosec に対する特許を失いつつあるため、Astra 社の将来は Crestor の成否にかかっている[成否で決まる]部分が大きかった」
