Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Drmanu49

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

specialist registrar (UK)

Senior specialist registrar if you want to be more specific. Note that the title of senior registrar no longer exists in the UK.

Once all modules are successfully completed, French trainees must pass a final exam to receive their specialist diploma. In addition, they have to write a thesis relating to research work they have undertaken. At this point, they can either enter private independent practice or continue to train for a further two to three years as chef de clinique before achieving a permanent post as practicien hospitalier.

The obvious time to undertake an exchange period in the United Kingdom would be during the four year modular training programme. The first two years of the programme are broadly equivalent to the training of a senior house officer (SHO) in the United Kingdom, and the last two years to that of a specialist registrar (SpR). The time spent as chef de clinique is equivalent to the final years of the SpR programme.

in Canada and US this is how we say it - it may be different in the UK or elsewhere.
disagree Angela Dickson (X) : I'm afraid I still disagree with you. A Chef de Clinique is a grade of doctor in France, not an administrative post. But as you say, the asker will decide.

OK, see my comment to writeaway. //see references above.//A doctor can also be a clinic administrator (I worked for one)! So let the asker decide.

Chief Attending Physician

I'm not sure how universal this term is - besides being used on the TV show ER (talk about bogus context!) it appears to be used by a large number of real (!) hospital centres (google etc). good luck.
