French term

expert comptable agréé et comptable agréé

Merci d'avance...

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you all. I am still a bit confused by all the different responses but I think this is what fits best in my context as my "expert comptable" IS a member of the Institute so I guess he is chartered and the Comptable agréé isn't (in my context)"

Qualified Accountant and qualified accounting technician

In spite of what the dictionaries say...
A french "expert comptable" is NOT a Chartered Accountant, because he has not taken their exams, he is a "qualified accountant" Qualified in France. He cannot sign off UK accounts. He does not have membership of the Institute.

I feel that "comptable" as in "bookkeeper" would be qualified as an "Accounting technician".

Peer comment(s):

agree Yasdnil1 : a "comptable" is not an accountant, but a book-keeper/technician
