French term

en fréquences et adresses

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng
Description of a radio control unit:

Emetteur et récepteur fréquence paramétrable par les joysticks en fréquences et adresses, aucune intervention nécessaire sur le récepteur.

I get as far as "transmitter and and receiver frequencies configurable using the joysticks..." but then the next section throws me a bit.

Thanks

Discussion

laston (X) Feb 24, 2009:
presetting? Perhaps l'adresses are for presettings on the radio. Are the joysticks in knob form or digital? (Potential question for the client)
Charles Hawtrey (X) Feb 24, 2009:
Un-French repetition of the same words ... which makes me think it's already been translated from EN - maybe in written in China since electronics like that is often made there.
trebla Feb 24, 2009:
Suggestion transmitter and receiver frequencies configurable using frequency and address joysticks
chaplin Feb 24, 2009:
could it be? these joysticks are active on certain frequencies and e-mail addresses so work without any other action required? Good luck!

frequencies and channels

Until I looked at the source document (Internet), I thought perhaps the unit might have Internet access (addresses) as well as radio communication (frequencies). But the source document gives no mention of Internet (or other, e.g. e-mail) connection so I don't think this can be it.

I would tend to agree with Charles's assessment - and then a little 'lateral thinking' leads me to 'channels', which is a frequently used term in radio communications.
Example sentence:

Aviation voice radios use VHF AM. AM is used so that multiple stations on the same *channel* can be received.
