Call waiting vs. Put on hold
My hubby is a telecom specialist, so this is right up my alley!!
Just to clarify the difference between Appel en instance/ mise en attente.
Call waiting is where two calls can come in on a single line. Generally one is "put on hold" by a switchboard operator wherein there is more than one line running to the phone.
Call waiting is more widely available to individual users, whereas the option to "put on hold" is more for larger scale customers such as companies.
Hope this helps you! Heavens knows you have helped with my recent inquiries regarding gas pipelines.

transfer d'appel
Call transfer does not mean "mise en attente" it is a transfer of calls to another number.
