Serving plate
In BE platters can be serving dishes or a course of a meal served on the same plate - e.g. "seafood platter".
I'd suggest "serving plate" - i.e. larger than dinner plate but small enough to fit in a domestic dishwasher. If your dishwasher is larger - for hotels, etc, then serving plate would also be appropriate.

thank you Nils, that's why I included "plate for placing food", since like you said, you can have lunch or even breakfast on it.

Thanks for pointing it out to me. Maybe my wording was not very good. But if I just entered "plate" there are people who are very picky about what one writes, and say that plate could mean a "disc plate" on a car or something.
