Hrvatski: stanje mirovanja/suspenzija U sljedećem primjeru: "Where the rights of membership of a Branch have been suspended or its membership has been placed in abeyance, the Branch may:....."
Milena Chkripeska Apr 19, 2009:
@ bonafide1313 I apsolutelly agree with everything you said! Still, as a matter of fact, sometimes we are supposed to retranslate the original text from Croatian to Croatian or from Macedonian to Macedonian etc. because of the numerous inconsistencies and spelling errors, and after that to "proceed" the translation to English... :-) Unfortunately, very often source texts look awful...

Language in use, as regards the "suspension": Solicitors who are being disciplined by the Law Society can be suspended from the roll or even struck off, which prevents them acting as a solicitor.
bonafide1313 Apr 18, 2009:

standstill (status/situation etc.)

"Western countries sought a minimum ten-year-long suspension of Iran's nuclear activities, which was impossible for us to do because such a thing would bring the country's scientific power to a standstill status and destruction," Boroujerdi continued.

Or "state of rest", metaphorically speaking...

This dormancy of the membership is likely due to the nature of the organization in that it depends primarily on recruitment of graduate students who may later move to other parts of the country and no longer attend meetings.”

agree Milena Chkripeska : I was also thinking of "suspension" as a possible solution, but it seems that this term is a bit obsolete (at least in the context provided) :-), as today there is a global tendency of using euphemisms...
