French term

récupération

Overtime is paid at time and a half. Workers are granted time off in lieu for an equal amount of hours to those worked which must be taken within 4 weeks. Workers are paid at time and a half for the overtime. Normal salary is paid for ?compensatory leave?

I am confused. The paragraph seems to be repeating itself? Any clarification greatly appreciated.

which country are we in here? could make a difference
Valentina Viganò Jun 20, 2009:
I think this is what they are getting at: Overtime: x salary + 50%
50% only for the hours of overtime
normal salary is due on days of compensatory leave, meaning that when they are on leave (even if it is compensatory) they still get the normal daily salary.
It's the only logical explanation I can think of, otherwise they are repeating themselves I guess.

explanation below - sorry but it's the only way

If you work overtime, you get paid time and a half for the hours worked OR you can take time off in lieu, in which case you have to take leave within 4 weeks. The time-and-a-half only applies if you are PAID for overtime. If you take time off in lieu, you can only take off the actual number of extra hours you actually worked (and not 1 and a half times this amount).

comp time

Instead of overtime, employee is paid in "comp time" hours, that is to say, time off in hours corresponding to the number of hours worked overtime.
