En principio la palabra que se me había ocurrido en este contexto (ver texto completo a contiuación) es family breaks pero me gustaría saber que opinais y si alguien tiene una sugerencia mejor gracias!

I agree. "Family breaks" fits in this context.

I think you're right I think "family breaks" fits perfectly in the context, meaning the family can get a break from the disabled person for others are nursing him/her. Cheers!

Respite care

This is the expression I've most often come across when it comes to stepping in with care services in order to give a badly needed break to family members involved with the care of a loved one who can't care for himself/herself.
