I work with French marcomm professionals pretty much daily, and two terms come up frequently. "Territoire créatif" and "territoire de communication" and they have nothing to do with the target audience or market. Stratégies magazine (a French marketing industry publication) also frequently uses these terms - search their website for examples (even if the full articles are not available)

Obviously you didn't want to go with the literal translation of "communications territory" which I agree doesn't really work.

: You can do better than "market". Arguably, the communications market is the one in which the ad agency is a seller and the cultural institution a buyer.
