German term

der/das sich gewaschen hat

German to English Marketing Marketing / Market Research der/das sich gewaschen hat
Headline in a brochure:

Aktionsumsatz, der sich gewaschen hat:
Wäscheprofis im Testpaket!

Because of the nature of the client I'd like to find an expression that keeps with the theme "clean" - laundry, washing, things like that.

Since I' haven't had enough coffee to get my creativity flowing this morning, can anyone think of an appropriate translation?
Thank you!

Creative headlines I suggest you offer your client a good translation for your per-word rate, and if he needs a creative solution, you charge accordingly and then have a big cup of coffee... ;)

So, what ideas have you come up with on your end so far?
Heike Reagan (asker) Feb 6, 2010:
they are starting a new campaign that includes all their laundry items (everything for ironing/drying). It's the headline of a flyer for all their new "test kits/packages", i.e. a drying rack with laundry pins, an ironing board with an extra ironing cloth, etc. I would say in non-marketing speak that their revenue with/during that campaign would just skyrocket/be worth it the extra investment.

more info please The relation between Aktions"umsatz" and "Wäscheprofis im Testpaket" is not clear to me. Was there an extraordinary revenue/profit because of the great "Aktions"- price of "Wäscheprofis im Testpaket"?

More information needed Based on the source text, I am assuming that this is some type of promotional package with a variety of cleaning products. However, we all know what they say about the word assume, so please tell us some more about the premise behind your text so we can make better suggestions.

What sort of ideas do you have? Assuming your coffee has kicked in by now, could you please give us a rough idea of what your own creative ideas are.

a super clean (campaign) success

or separate: campaign sales (are) a super clean success

my tentative entry. More context would help.

Laundry list of products

Not knowing what follows, I'm going on the assumption that trial-sized laundry/cleaning products are put together in one bag/box for the consumer to try out, so I'm suggesting something along the lines of "a laundry list of products to try out".

the turnover was a clean sweep all right!

"Aktion" wasn't part of the bit that needed translating, was it?

A clean sweep = a very impressive victory in a competition, election etc . (DCE)

a total clean out/wash out

an idea..wash out might be a little negative even if the word play is good. I like clean out as well.
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : washout means failure, not success!

I know that Phil, read my explanation please. Anyone with a little imagination could still turn it around and use it in a campaign slogan or, there is the clean out alternative I provided.
neutral British Diana : agree with Phil- the first impression is negative and that's as far as most people will get

maybe so. It is simply an idea.

It's a whitewash, and then some!!!!

A clean sheet all the way!

A 'whitewash' in the US means really sticking it to the other guy

(e.g., Germany 5, England 0) in the World Cup finale.
