German term
Abwicklung
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Engineering (general)
geometry
Für die Abwicklung der 3D-Geometrie in die Ebene ist es erforderlich, formgebende Elemente einzufügen, die eine Materialanhäufung oder -ausdünnung vermeiden.
The overall context is technical textiles.
I have found "development" or "mapping [onto a plane]". Can anybody confirm this term or suggest another translation?
TIA

development
(Why be imaginative. In preparing textiles, e.g. in a knitting process, you are indeed developing the 3D geometry.)

integration
I would refer to the integration of 3-D unto the plain
Peer comment(s):
disagree |
Kim Metzger
: integration "unto the plain? /We integrate "into" and the other word is "plane" not plain. Plane, geometry: a two-dimensional group of points that goes on infinitely in all directions; made up of infinite lines
