I don't know if it would be "peak power" - but that comes up as "puissance de crête" - or occasional power etc.

I'm going to depart a little from the source text here; we really don't need to translate 'puissance', since it is abundantly covered by the rest of the context; however, I do think we need both 'oaccsaional' and 'peak' — note that this is not the same as 'peak power' (though it could be 'power peaks'!)

: I think that in this patent spot power means the power at a single moment, and not necessarily a higher than usual power.

: Odd, as an engineer myself I've often come across 'power point' for a 'socket outlet', but I can honestly say I've never heard 'point' used in this sort of way? Could it be a Canadianism?
