Banking qualifications
This is encountered in a banking apprenticeship certificate and appears to be a level of qualification reached following training:
"Herr X absolvierte die 3-jährige Ausbildung zum eidgenössischen Kaufmann Profil M."
This is clearly specific to Switzerland and the Swiss system - but can anyone explain the significance of the "Profil M" part?

"Kaufmann" stands for the qualification of a KV (kaufmaennische Lehre, which is an apprenticeship as office clerk)," Profil M", must mean Profil "Matura", which is the Swiss equivalent of A2 levels, or Baccalaureat in French. The path leading to this qualification is a three year apprenticeship, whereby the apprentice works in an office (bank, insurance, other business...O)and spends some time ( I think it's about 1 to 1.5 days per week) in college, learning foreign languages, maths, general studies..) The idea is to come out with something equivalent to vocational A-levels. In comparison to a normal apprenticeship as an office clerk, they come out with additional academic qualifications. In order to get a place on one of these courses/apprenticeships
, students need above-average equivalents of GCSEs.
