I see this as more oriented towards ensuring protection against objects falling from the shelves or 'pallet racks' (http://www.rackandshelf.com) in warehouse/factory environments.

I've seen the words 'gantry' for a structure at construnction sites, or 'canopy' for something on driven machinery.
