French term
complet CDMA
French to English
Tech/Engineering
Telecom(munications)
This is a passage in a license agreement for 3G technology:
« Appareil d’Abonné » désigne un téléphone complet CDMA et/ou CDMA bimode, incluant sans limitation, des téléphones mobiles, transportables ou portables incorporant tout ou partie des droits de propriété intellectuelle de la société ABC.
I understand that CDMA bimode is "dual-mode" CDMA, but what could "complet CDMA" be? It would seem to be a CDMA only telephone, but I am not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

complete CDMA phone
it's the phone that is "complete", not the CDMA standard.
a "complete phone" would be a phone usable on it's own as a phone (that wouldn't include detachable earpieces, or a charging stand or other accessories). “complete” would be there to make a difference from putting a SIM card in a dongle, or a laptop (some can take one) or in various other equipment (vending machines, security equipment etc) that can "dial home" automatically on their own.

so obvious I forgot it: mobile phone

full-kit CDMA telephones
A guess really, but definitely a possibility.
Full kit: charger, battery, hands-free kit maybe, etc.?
BUt I can't explain why such a detail would be important in a licence agreement.
This is perhaps one where you're going to have to query the client.

: "abonné" means customer, a device usable by a customer, ie a full phone, not a PCB or set of chips, to be confirmed with what ABC is manufacturing, but my guess is a tier 2 or 3 subcontractor

: But I agree with Didier - it's a full phone, not a kit including accessories.
