English term
push/pull
English to French
Bus/Financial
Management
Gestion des données
Bonsoir,
dans le cadre de la traduction d'un ERP pour des établissements hôteliers, je suis confronté à ces termes, parfois seuls et parfois associés. Qu'en dites-vous?
"Use Property > to push and pull data between Cluster Purchasing and properties with Data Synchronization."
"Data synchronization. With the multi-property version of our system, you can push and pull data. To push data is to send data from Cluster Purchasing to one or more properties. To pull data is to copy data from Cluster Purchasing to a property."
"If you create a product at a property, the software sets the value of CP Control to None. No CP control means when the product is pushed to a property, the property will have full control."
"Use Property to push a product to a property."
"The following types of data can be pushed or pulled: accounts, categories, products, recipes, units, and vendors."
"Push a vendor to a property and remove a vendor from a property."

Discussion
But in French I should not be as leberal as English: you push the data of a vendor into the data that represent a property.
Beware of transmit/transmettre, it can be understood both ways in French, only in English a transmitter is strictly emitting data, "transmission de données" in French can be both ways
So when you are downloading a page from the Internet, you are 'pulling'; but wjhen an Internet page sends you a pop-up advertisement, it is 'pushing'.
Does that make it clearer?
In your particular context, 'push/pulling a vendor' must have a specific meaning, but totally dependent on your wider context...
To pull data means that x is fed by y
Think of Excel. Some cells are used to calculate the value of another cell (fed in)
And some cells are fed by other cells (fed by)
I'm pretty sure this is what it all means
