German term
Arsch huh, Zäng ussenander
German to English
Art/Literary
Slang
Idiom
Kölsch for "Arsch hoch, Zähne auseinander".
The 20th anniversary of the event ( http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arsch_huh,_Zäng_ussenander ) is this Friday, and some of the people I've been trying to recruit are not of the German language very mächtig.
Any sugestions for a neat slogan? I've currently got the rather long: Get up off your arse and voice your opinion. I think I'm looking for a pepped-up version of Stand up and be heard.
Just a question out of interest. There's no real context as such, just my imaginary context, whic I hope I've explained.

buck up and speak out
oooohhh, an O'Tuama question!
Note from asker:
Thanks, but maybe a wee bit too close to my uninspired Stand up and be heard. |

: Is this some sense of "buck up" I don't know? To me, buck up means cheer up...

Hi Edwin. Yes, you're right as well, but it is also a phrase of encouragement - to get a move on.

Comment: "Am being pestered to answer this: I was hoping for a colourful equivalent (not necessarily with "arse"), but this seems to come closest. Thanks everyone."

Stand up and speak up
a la Bob Marley, with a touch of wordplay on the 'up'
Note from asker:
Thanks, but I think I'm looking for something more colourful. |

Get Out And Say It Loud
or "Get Off The Fence And Say It Loud"
The way I see it, one problem is to keep it forceful enough without edging over into political slogans..
Might come up with more ideas..

Thanks, but I'm looking for something idiomatic, something an ENS might say. |

Get off yer bum/butt and tell yer tale!
That could cover both the UK and US variants.
Note from asker:
That's almost the general direction :-) Thanks. |

Stand up and be counted
Not quite as colorful as your original but at least somewhat idiomatic. I remember it from this song, which for some reason I always thought Midnight Oil sang: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVVGygQAQT0

Strike back by speaking out!
There's been a large number of such campaigns lately, especially in larger cities in former East Germany, such as Berlin, where I used to live. The idea is most definitely to encourage people to react and speak out against radical violence, hence my suggestion.
Discussion
But as you (Coqueiro) said yourself, "not the same". So no worries :-)
