The term, both words, can be translated to 'the company's interns'.

trainee classes or teams

My first thought is that 'hold' is a class or team.

As this is a responsibility in a subunit, it could mean organising training, or some collective activity with trainees, who may be distributed through the group at other times.

You probably have not got any more detailed context, but without the rest of the text it is a guess.

I call them trainees in UK English - this also covers the junior variety upwards, as suggested by ´elev´.
