a real guess. My son thinks a 'chandelle' is a handstand. wait for confirmation or disagrees from peers. The ref. below mentions it but is for skydiving ref.

: For airplanes "chandelle" is acrobatic in general. I suppose it is a good guess.

Larousse: appui m renversé, équilibre m sur les mains-why does that mean a sortie chandelle can't be a handstand exit? (am not maintaining that it is-but don't see how this proves it's not)

: I don't have enough info to agree or disagree, but it does seem to be gymnastics: see www.unss-poitiers.com/patrick/ag_po.htm for videos of gymnastic exercises, including "sortie chandelle" - I don't have the means to play these videos.

it could well be vaulting-no answer to my question.other questions were horsey.then it could be handstand dismount.

vertical/zoom exit
Assuming we're talking aircraft and therefore aerobatics this would probably be a zoom exit or vertical (climb) exit.
