Except in the case of very serious incidents the informal approach involving co-operation
between coaches and referees should be used first.
a) The coach or referee may offer on the spot coaching or advice;
b) The referee may issue a warning which should be supported by the coach;
c) The player may be removed from play for a period of time. In a youth game the referee
may use a yellow card and no replacement is allowed.

THE SPOT COACHING APPROACH provides your leaders with an easy-to-integrate framework, and overall mindset, for practicing on-the-spot coaching.

Years ago, Ken Blanchard popularized the notion of “catching employees doing something right” in his popular book The One-Minute Manager. Blanchard was on to something. Although he brought the concept to light back in 1982, almost thirty years later we still tend to overlook the positive side of coaching or, as I like to refer to it, on-the-spot coaching.

The ball is held upright. It is kicked with the top of the foot striking the ball on its sweet SPOT just above its bottom point. A follow through is essential in every kick.

The "sweet spot"
The best place to strike the ball with the foot is about a third of the way up the ball on a seam. The shape of the ball fits the foot.
