French term

Billetage

French to English Bus/Financial Accounting Point of sale management software
This appears as one word in an Excel list I'm translating.
(Other words in the context are Caisse, Clôturée, Date de clôture, Contrôle Caisse etc etc.).

I know what it means and I've found a definition on Wiktionary:
(Comptabilité)
Action de donner les détails d’un montant donné.
On fait le billetage en fonction d’une valeur de monnaies donnée. Par exemple, faire le billetage de 10 000 en 1 000 et 100 revient à trouver le nombre de 1 000 et de 100 dont on dispose pour avoir ces 10 000.

I've found a translation on Word Reference as 'cash payment' but that's not the meaning here.

Does anyone know the correct English translation?

TIA

Discussion

Catharine Cellier-Smart (asker) Jun 18, 2014:
Checked with client, this refers (here) to a mixture of coins, notes and cheques so the catch-all term of 'cash breakdown list' is what works best.
DLyons Jun 17, 2014:
@Elizabeth. "denomination breakdown" is, I think, essentially the same as "cash breakdown".

French ATMs often ask would you like mostly 50 euro notes, mostly 20 euro notes, a mixture? Then the machine gives you some approximation to that.
Elizabeth Tamblin Jun 17, 2014:
I found this definition on l'Internaute:

"Le billetage est une méthode de comptabilité qui consiste à détailler un montant défini. Ainsi, pour une somme de 5000 euros, on détaille le nombre de billets de 100 ou de 200, par exemple."

Would "denomination breakdown" work?
Catharine Cellier-Smart (asker) Jun 17, 2014:
I will check with the client whether here it's 'note count' or 'cash breakdown list' as Donal suggests.

This has nothing to do with Africa, but yes the amount of African search results means its difficult to get a result which doesn't mean 'cash payment'.

I don't understand the Wiktionary definition. But could it mean a note count, to establish how much cash they have?
A lot of the hits are African.
