Italian term

parallelepipedo

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Business/Commerce (general) inflatable exhibition stand
Hi, I don't like parallelpiped. Many thanks.

The structure in question is an inflatable stand constructed with walls and bulkheads in fabric / nylon lanyards 420 grey colour, cuboidal-shaped with a slightly inclined roof. External dimensions are of 14 metres x 19 metres, the maximum height at the extrados of the walls is equal to 6.30 meters.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

TechLawDC Oct 15, 2014:
CAUTION: Wrong answer. As nearly every high school student knows, there is a difference between a rhomboid-shaped figure and a parallelepiped. In particular, a parelleleipiped is a three-dimensional structure and a rhomboid-shaped figure is two-dimensional!

Parallelepiped - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallelepiped
Wikipedia
A three-dimensional figure formed by six parallelograms.
Three equivalent definitions of parallelepiped are. a polyhedron with six faces (hexahedron), each of which is a parallelogram, a hexahedron with three pairs of parallel faces, and. a prism of which the base is a parallelogram.

roughly rectangular

No, I don't like parallelepiped either. The third dimension will be taken care of by the measurements here.

Never mind roughly: "rectangular in shape with a slightly inclined roof". Those parallelograms and parallelepipeds are needlessly exact.

in the form of sloping cubes - or sloped cubes

thought the angle might be involved, though:

By analogy, it relates to a parallelogram just as a cube relates to a square or as a cuboid to a rectangle.

rectangular box

Peer comment(s):

neutral Michael Korovkin : nope, ma'am: rectangle is just a particular case of ppp'ed whilst the latter may have two angles of >90° and two of < 90°... 'long as the opposite sides are parallel it's a ppp'ed

Italian term (edited): a forma di parallelepipedo

of a parallelepiped shape

What's wrong with parallelepiped? Children learn this term at about age 11 or 12 these days. There is no good substitute.
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : It's the exact equivalent - it's not up to us to make esthetic judgments about the word.

Diamond shape / quadrangular shape

.... In English, "parallelepiped" is even rarer in usage than in yukky sound :))

If you think that 'rectangular parallelepiped' is too 'technical'
