@Phil Do you mean in the link Patti provided?
I actually searched the glossary before asking the question, but didn't find that search result. So much the better if it's the wrong answer!
philgoddard Oct 17, 2014:
The wrong answer was chosen last time we had this question.

@Catharine No problem - you're very welcome
Catharine Cellier-Smart (asker) Oct 17, 2014:
@Katherine K Thanks - would you like to post that as an answer?
Katherine K (X) Oct 17, 2014:
joined in the proceedings (as a third party) This is what I would use given that this is a Summons:
"that the company XXXXX should be joined in the proceedings (as a third party)
Chakib Roula Oct 17, 2014:
It might mean "They are liable"
Catharine Cellier-Smart (asker) Oct 17, 2014:
Not a typo "Attrait à la cause" gets lots of g-hits so I don't think it's a typo. Difficult to find a translation though!
Gregory Flanders Oct 17, 2014:
typo: attiré instead of attrait? Just a guess, but it seems likely that this is a typo, calling for a past participle "attiré" rather than attrait. Then again, I'm not sure what "attiré à une cause" would refer to, perhaps something like "their responsibility is engaged"?

agree AllegroTrans : yes, but not necessarily as a third party (could be fourth party for example)
